没有当初看持摄影机的人那时的感触了，总感觉他的纪录片离蒙太奇派更远，离法国先锋电影更近。

维尔托夫主张摄影机是“出其不意地捕捉生活”的“眼睛”，反对叙事性电影，反对人为搬演，排斥演员、化装、布景、照明和摄影棚中的艺术加工，认为可以通过蒙太奇技巧重新组织自然形态的实拍镜头，从而在意识形态的高度上表现“客观世界的实质”。他在提出这个理论的同时还通过这部影片实践着他的理论。
